5 Tips for Smarter Snacking

Make Fruit & Veggies Fun
Eating plain fruit and veggies can get boring, but they’re some of the healthiest and most filling snacks around.  Try pairing them with some interesting dips – chocolate dessert hummus and varieties of different salsas, for example.

Power Up on Protein
A protein-packed sack will keep you feeling full until your next healthy meal.  One go-to is hard-boiled egg whites.  Try stuffing them with hummus or salsa.  Other snacks are light string cheese, single-serve tuna packs and fat-free Greek yogurt.

Use Single-Serving Snacks
Take control of snack sizes by making your own single-serve bags of nuts, chips and more.  Or purchase the pre-portioned 100-calorie packs.

Stay Hydrated
When the hunger alarm is going off, sometimes you might just need a glass of water.  Have a glass and wait 5-10 minutes.  If you’re still hungry, use one of the healthy snack options

Keep Healthy Snacks on Hand
Always have good-for-you treats within arm’s reach.  Carry emergency snacks with you to avoid making poor food choices between meals.
